Andre Michael: From Trauma to Triumph, R&B’s Next Big Voice

Andre Michael
Andre Michael

Andre Michael is not your average R&B artist. Born in Rochester, New York, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, his journey has been anything but smooth—from surviving foster care, incarceration, and trauma, to now emerging as one of the most authentic voices in R&B. On Episode 60 of Concealed Media, Andre pulled up to talk about his latest single Sleep Deprived, his upcoming release Three Minutes, and why he's committed to singing for the soul, not just the charts.

His style blends old-school influence with new-school production, creating music that speaks to love, growth, and real-life experience. “I’m not just trying to make people dance,” he told us. “I want to touch hearts. I want to reach the people who’ve been through it and bring them out of it.”

Andre doesn’t shy away from vulnerability. He opened up about the pain of foster care, being molested, and surviving a $1.7 million bond case. “I’m still here, so I know God has a plan,” he said. “Music became my therapy and my calling.”

Now a father, entrepreneur, and self-managed artist, Andre is focused on legacy. He releases music independently every other month and is building a fanbase the grassroots way. His message? Survival isn’t just about getting through the storm—it’s about becoming the voice others need when they’re in it.
