DJ Ty Pack and Luh Bri stop by the Camo Lounge

ree

Not all DJ’s are the same and when it comes to putting on for the Carolinas DJ Ty Pack is in a league of his own. A few weeks ago the crew sat down with Mr. “Who Really Working?” himself to talk about his mixtape series, what he looks for when searching for new talent, and his thoughts on what holds artist back. Ty Pack also brought his artist Luh Bri with him to the Camo Lounge to talk about her music, balancing her career and being a mother and much more.

Over the years Ty Pack has had the opportunity to perform at some of the biggest venues in the country. He said one thing he’s learned for his experiences, sharing the stage with some of the biggest name in the industry, is that there are no handouts. He also talked about the importance of teamwork.

“Just me being on the road as far as DJing, me being on the road touring and seeing other people’s operation I learned if you really want to set the tone in this industry and really do this sh*t you have to build your sh*t. Because it’s kinda rare that somebody is going to let you in on their enterprise,” he said. “Instead of waiting for somebody to do that for you build your own sh*t and you definitely need a team to do it.”

When discussing his partnership with Luh Bri, Ty Pack said he saw her perform at a showcase and immediately knew she had what it takes to make it. “I seen her perform at showcase in Raleigh…and I hit her one weekend and told her let’s work.”

A native of Mount Gilead, NC, Luh Bri said growing up she would write music and freestyle over beats all the time but she had never been to a studio. But once she experienced going to the studio and recording when she was only 15-years-old, there was no turning back; she knew she had found her calling.

“I was calling it poetry because I wasn’t in the studio I was just writing…We would sit in the car, get high, play a beat and just rap. So if I remember what I said I’m going back to my book and I’m writing it down but I wasn’t recording it,” she continued. “…I recorded my first song Boot Up and I’ve been rapping ever since then.”

Since dropping Boot Up in 2017 Luh Bri has the bars to hold her own in the booth with hits like Poppin My Shit, Turn Me Up, and Body For Body. And she said it’s only the beginning. She said with every performance and trip to the studio she gets better.
