While he may be listed as an artist those who know NC native Kamen Della (KD) know that he’s much more than that. Having done work as a writer, producer, DJ, and a sound engineer it’s clear that Kamen Della can literally do it all when it comes to making music. A few weeks ago the crew sat down with KD to discuss how he got his start in music, his relationship recording artist Anella Herim, family, balancing his career being a father and much more.
Although he has fans all over the world by far KD’s biggest supporter is, and always has been his grandma. KD said his grandma has been there every step of the way. He mentioned that he first started making beats in his grandmother’s basement and she’s been supporting his dream ever since. She even pulled up with KD to the Camo Lounge for the interview.
“My grandma is probably the only person…that has never ever second guessed me. I’ve never thought she wasn’t going to be there and that’s my rock,” he said.
When discussing his relationship with Anella Herim, who recently signed to Def Jam, KD said they met in chorus class at Wheatmore High School. KD said they had a assignment to bring in a song that inspired them and he brought in a song by the pop band X Ambassadors that Anella connected with as well.
“I played that song and Nella started crying because he was so moved by the song. He talked to me about after class and that’s what started us talk,” KD continued. “…After that it was like everyday hanging out in the basement making music.”
